Dr. Nancy Chen received her honors Bachelor of Arts degree at UC Berkeley and her Master of Science degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at UC Irvine. Following her dream, she moved to Boston and obtained her Medical Degree at Tufts University, School of Medicine. She graduated with high honors as a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Upon completing her internship in Internal Medicine at UCLA-San Fernando Valley Program in Sylmar, California, she continued her training at UC San Diego Dermatology Residency Program. In her last year of training, she was chosen to serve as the Chief Resident.

Dr. Chen is double board certified by the American Board of Dermatology in General Dermatology and Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery. She is an active member and fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She has served as the past President of the San Diego Dermatologic Surgery Society as well as the past President of California Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery (CalDerm). Currently, she serves as a Board of Director for the California Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery.

Outside of her clinical work at Escondido Dermatology Inc., Dr. Chen volunteers for skin cancer screening in her community. She also reaches out to different communities and populations by giving health seminars to the general public co-sponsored by Palomar-Pomerado Hospital.

In her spare time, Dr. Chen enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, as well as spending time with her husband and daughters. She is also fluent in Mandarin and Taiwanese.

Dr. Katherine Ferris completed her undergraduate training at the University of Southern California, after growing up in Dallas and later Arizona. After earning her BA degree in Psychology (with a Spanish minor), Dr. Ferris took time off after her undergraduate training to pursue professional dance in ballet, jazz, hip hop, and aerial arts, during which she performed with various Los Angeles companies as well as well-known artists such as Britney Spears and Will Smith. Her athleticism promoted an appreciation for human physiology, providing a foundation to manifest her profound interest in medicine. Once destined for this profession, she quickly realized her passion for all things skin care. She entered medical school at University of Miami in Miami, FL, where her love for dermatology flourished, even prompting a one year hiatus dedicated to dermatologic research; during this training, she became involved in dermatology interest groups and several dermatologic medical societies. She then completed her internal medicine internship at St. Mary Medical Center of Long Beach, followed by dermatology residency at UC Irvine. There, she served as head coordinator of Lestonnac free medical clinic for two years, as well as director of resident cosmetic training and chief resident for Quality Improvement. Dr. Ferris has interest in broad categories within dermatology: general dermatology including acne, rosacea, pigmentation issues, psoriasis, eczema, contact dermatitis; skin cancer surgery; and cosmetic procedures such as botox and fillers. She has published numerous articles, book chapters, and given many presentations on diverse topics in dermatology. She continues to lead an active lifestyle, enjoying running, hiking, dance, yoga, surfing, and traveling.
